To sign up for your US Flag subscription, please fill out form and mail, with payment, to address listed. You may also send form and payment to WHS, band department. For further questions, please contact Christine Kramer-Flag Chairperson at 314-276-6631.
SHOW YOUR NATIONAL PRIDE AND SUPPORT THE WHS BAND!
For each holiday listed below, a 3′ x 5′ flag on a pole will be placed in your front yard. The flags will be installed at least one day before the holiday and removal after the holiday.
The cost is $40/year (cost will be prorated depending on when you register)
Flags will be placed on the following holidays:
*Patriot Day (9/11)
Flag etiquette reminders: The U.S. flag should not be flown in the rain or in the dark. You can light the flag at night (a small garden spotlight would do the trick), or bring it inside. In bad weather, the flag should be enjoying the shelter of your home or garage.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to be present when my flag is installed?
No. Flags will be placed within about 3’ of the corner formed by your driveway and the sidewalk/street.
What if there is a tree or other obstacle at the prescribed installation location?
Our installers will adjust the location appropriately to make sure the flag can fly freely.
Can I request a specific location for the flag to be installed?
If you are present when the installers show up, you can make a request in person and they will do their best to accommodate it.
Flags that are flying at night should be illuminated. Do we get a light with our flag?
No. But you are encouraged to place a small spotlight in your yard to light up your flag at night (but please don’t blind your neighbors!). An inexpensive solar-powered one would probably work great.
When does the subscription period begin? End?
With this being our first year, your subscription will start on the Memorial Day holiday. If you are to register after that or anytime during the year, your cost will be prorated for the remaining holidays for that year.
What do we do if we move in the middle of our subscription period?
If you are moving to another house in the Waterloo school district, you can notify us by calling the chairperson at 314-276-6631 and we will update your records to reflect your new address. Your subscription will continue at your new home.
If you move outside the Waterloo school district, please notify the chairperson so we can cancel your subscription. There is no refund for cancelling, however.
I live in an apartment. Is there any way for me to participate?
Unfortunately, we are unable to place flags at apartments at this time.
Will my HOA allow this flag in my yard?
Please check with your HOA prior to registering.
How will the flag be installed on my property?
We will drive a length of re-bar into your lawn and place the flag pole over the expose re-bar (the re-bar will be removed along with the flag after each holiday).
